Our students are working with Handwriting without Tears this year. This is a program designed to help young children establish a good pencil grasp and learn the proper formation for letter writing. These are essential skills for school and are best learned early before bad habits start. As parents, you can help reinforce our work at home. We will connect with you throughout the year to recommend home practice activities that will build foundation skills for your child. The first is simple: singing a nursery rhyme that we all know! "Where is Thumbkin?" is a great song for children to learn finger isolation and dexterity. Please sing this at home...often!
How can you help with handwriting?
